This 4K monitor is a cheap option for people looking to add a reasonably sized 4K monitor to their computer set up.
When it comes to computer tech you’ll find that if you want to you can spend an almost unlimited amount towards getting the prefect set up. For gamers, graphic designers and video editors in particular it’s ever more important to have the best monitor within your means to get the best results.
Gamers, especially those who stream their games on platforms like Twitch or YouTube will want a good screen so they can get good results from that will reflect what they are streaming. Video editors who are working with 4K footage will benefit from seeing the footage in full resolution, and graphic designers will get the best results from a larger display that shows a higher density of pixels.
The good news about this monitor is that it will give you a reasonable 4K image, but the colour quality wasn’t instantly as good as I’d hoped for. The back of the monitor does have a panel of controls that let you adjust the basic brightness, contrast, sharpness etc. I did find that I had to use the function to change the viewing angle and black level to make the image comparable to the screen of the gaming laptop I connected it to.
My use of the screen was to add a second screen to my laptop setup. I wanted it to extend the display to have multiple windows open at once and more screen space to play with whilst working. I was impressed with the size of the monitor which didn’t just increase the size of the image from my laptop screen and provided a larger canvas so I could see more lines of text in Word, a larger area of an image in photoshop and more of the layers at once in my video editing software.
If you’re yet to add a second screen or a 4K monitor to your setup this is a good entry level option.
In terms of ports you can add two HDMIs to it as well as a display port which mean you can easily have your PC and a games console plugged in at once. This is especially handy if you want to stream or capture game footage as you can have a decent 4K display set up ready to go next to your PC.
My favourite feature of the monitor is the P-B-P Mode which stands for picture by picture mode and allows you to display images from two sources at once. This is useful if you want to have your work on the screen, but also have your PlayStation on the screen as well. The monitor allows you at adjust the size and the position of the second source and works surprisingly well.
Conclusion
There are fancier monitors available that come with curved screens, richer colours and a whole range of things that most people won’t need or notice the difference of. If you want a reliable 4K ultra HD image this monitor is one of the best options in the lower price range.
