If you’re not familiar with Hayabusa, he was a Japanese wrestler best known as the face (or should that be mask) of Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling where he was a multi time World Champion. His mix of high flying and hardcore styles made him a sensation during his run in the 1990s.

The sad part of his story is that he suffered a devastating career ending injury in 2001 which left his paralysed. His innovative style inspired many of today’s stars and notably he was the innovator of the Falcon Arrow and Phoenix Splash which have both been adopted by Seth Rollins.

This figure of him is the rare blue variant as the original release of the figure had red trunks and mask. Other than the change of colour, the figure is identical to the original and is one of the best in the Chella Toys range.

The pose is the classic dropkick pose as seen in the original WWF Hasbro figures, but as the Chella Toys don’t feature any spring loaded actions, it means there is no awkward lump in the figures back to activate a spring. In this sense, this makes this figure superior than most others who are in this pose. As an added bonus, whilst there is no spring loaded action, they have added the ability to rotate the figure at the waist which this pose cannot normally do.

The figure features dents across the body to show scars which are very effective and the detail on the mask and attire is good. His boots are even accurate down to the almost camel toe like separation of the big toe from the others.

Conclusion

This was a very limited release and sure to be one that collectors will be after for a long time, so if you get the opportunity to get your hands on one you should grab it!

Rating: 4 out of 5.
