Wrestling MegaStars Adam Bomb Action Figure Review From Chella Toys

The Hasbro WWF Adam Bomb action figure is one of the Holy Grail wrestling action figures from the 1990s. Released is the legendary green card series along with the likes of Billy and Bart Gunn, and Ludvig Borga, it is among the rarest wrestling figures to collect. If you look up Hasbro Adam Bomb on eBay, you’ll find the figure sells sometimes for hundreds of pounds/dollars. As such many collectors have had to accept that they will never get their hands on an Adam Bomb retro figure.

Enter Chella Toys and the Wrestling Megastars line.

We’ve covered a bunch of the Chella Toys Wrestling Megastars figures here on XStreamed.tv and have been impressed with their new wave of Hasbro style retros wrestling figures. Being able to add the likes of Nick Aldis, The Blue Meanie and The Dynamite Kid your collection of retros is a cool prospect. But this new Adam Bomb figure marks the first time that a wrestler who previously had an official WWF Hasbro figure gets a Chella retro as well. It will also sit along side your WWE Retros from Mattel and the similarly retro themed Heels and Faces line from Zombie Sailor Toys.

Certainly, this figure isn’t the old figure, but for anyone who wants an Adam Bomb fig, this will certainly help fill that gap and put right what once went wrong when the green series would get a short run and minimal distribution…kinda.

Chella Toys Wrestling Megastars figures themselves are limited runs and whilst there are plenty of these floating around at the moment, the best way to get any of the Chella figures is when they’re available for pre-order. Still, it is the case that this figure will be cheaper on eBay now than the Hasbro Adam Bomb.

But enough history lesson, how good is the figure?

The Adam Bomb figure is easily the most impressive of the Chella Toys figures that we’ve reviewed to date. Whilst we made note that the Nick Aldis figure wasn’t as quite on point as it’s illustration and the All Ego Ethan Page fig had a slightly too small head for it’s body, the proportions of the Adam Bomb figure are spot on.

With the classic slam pose as seen on the original Hasbro Hulk Hogan, Warlord, British Bulldog and others, this Adam Bomb figure will fit right in next to these others. The slam pose also perfectly fits Adam Bomb’s position as a powerhouse more than his original Hasbro figure pose.

The ring attire looks great with a nuclear green look to contrast the firey orange and red of the original. Also it’s neat to see that they included removable glasses that Adam Bomb was known for in WWF.

It’s been exciting to see how the Chella figures have evolved across the first and into this second series. The details on the figure including the logos on the knee pads, the arm tattoo and the gloves are spot on. The packaging is also as good as ever with the consistent Hasbro like packaging, and thick card stock make this great for display purposes.

It’s true that the figure doesn’t feature any spring based action , but as we’ve noted with past Chella releases, these are deisgned as collectors pieces and most will stay mint on card. There were some reports that the bubble with the figure on the front of the card was loose for some people, but there were no issues with this figure.

The back of the card shows the ambitious second series of figures with nine figures listed in total for series 2. We look forward to seeing more of these released and we’ll be sure to cover as many as possible here on XStreamed.tv and on the Slam Jam Wrestling YouTube Channel.

Conclusion

By far the best release from Cehlla Toys in the Wrestling Megastars line to date. The design, sizing and action of the Adam Bomb figure will be sure to scratch that figure itch of all Hasbro and retros collectors.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.
