It has been confirmed by New Japan Pro Wrestling that their current World Champion Will Ospreay has sustained a neck injury and will now be forced to vacate the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
It was first reported on the official New Japan Pro Wrestling website that Ospreay was hurt at night 2 of Wrestling Dontaku in Fukuoka. There is currently no update on what will happen regarding the IWGP Championship beyond that it is vacated. Potential options may be a tournement or that the current top contenders may fight to determine a new champion.
There is also no timetable for how long Ospreay will be out of action.
