One person in the world of Geek Fandom who always strikes me as having a really weird career is David Hayter.
If you’re not sure who I mean by this, let me explain.
He’s most famous for being the voice of Solid Snake for most of the character’s appearances in the Metal Gear solid franchise. This tells us he’s a voice actor. Fair enough, but after this the other things I know him for don’t really make sense for someone best known for playing Solid Snake.
If you didn’t know, he then is also a screenwriter that wrote the first two X-Men movies as well as the script for The Scorpion King and the Watchmen.
Pretty significant little collection of famous films, right? What else has he done?
Well, after that, he hasn’t written any other big movies. I’ve not done extensive research, but there has to be a really good story to how someone can write a select few blockbusters, and voice one of the top five most iconic video game characters voices of all time…because these elements don’t feel like they go together.
And look, having looked at his IMDB page, he’s done plenty of other things. Mostly voiceover work, but still to me it always comes up as the trivia I tell people when watching one of the movies he wrote. Did you know this movie was written by Solid Snake?!
