Super Smash Bros Melee

Super Smash Bros. Melee (Video Game 2001) - IMDb

Super Smash Bros Melee is the game which exploded the series in popularity and was the best selling game for the GameCube. With a large roster of Nintendo favourite’s to choose to play as this game is still arguably the best in the series.

The series is insanely popular, although still a little bit hit or miss for some players. Same just see it as button mashing, but skilled players can learn the tricks and tips to doing well inside and out down to hitting moves based on individual frames of animation.

A testament to that is the fact that every home console game since this one is still ideally played with the GameCube controller. Yup, the next game on the Wii benefitted from the Wii having GameCube backwards compatibility with controller support, and the Wii U and Switch receiving adaptors so Smash players could still use the original controllers.

And unlike the games that followed this one features a true adventure mode and hundreds of trophies to unlock. This feature was similar to the now standard achievements which are available in pretty much all games outside Nintendo platforms.
