8: Scrubs
Some people love Scrubs and some hate it. It’s style of humour is certainly an acquired taste, and even the show’s stars and creators have described it as being like a cartoon. It uses cutaways and sometimes silly humour, but with distinct characters who you could love or love to hate this fits well into the category of nicely watchable.
Zack Braff lead a cast which followed doctors in training and the dynamic between J.D, Turk, Elliot and the others was a winning formula for many years. Special mention for this show always has to go to Niel Flynn as the Janitor.
7: The X Files
One of the biggest shows of the 1990s, and has Twilight Zone level of importance to the sci-fi mystery genre.
The show follows the exploits of Mulder and Scully of the FBI who investigate the ‘X Files’ that deals with all the alien activity and monsters and other things that go bump in the night. The characters who became instantly iconic had a great chemistry and audiences were just as interested in the development of their relationship as they were in figuring out if they would ever find the truth which as I understand it is still out there.
As with other shows on this list, it did arguably lose something in later seasons and this was partly down to cast members leaving and the studio attempting to carry on under these circumstances. Unfortunately as it stands Disney Plus Star features the original 9 series of the X Files (and it’s two movie spin offs) but doesn’t currently list the revival series that came about 10 years later. And no the spin off series about the Lone Gunmen also is currently missing.
