Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles X Stranger Things Leonardo vs Eleven Action Figure Review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles X Stranger Things Leonardo vs Eleven Action Figure Review

Over the last few years there have been several Ninja Turtle cross over figure sets released.  We’ve previously covered Ninja Turtles crossed over with Cobra Kai and with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Now it’s the turn of Stranger Things meets the heroes in a half shell, and the pairings include Raphael and Hopper and the subject of today’s review Leonardo and Eleven. There is a second wave of figures which pairs Dustin with Michelangelo and Lucas with Donatello, but I’m not sure how widely these releases are as I’ve yet to see them in the wild or online in the UK.

To be honest I feel that Finn and Steve may have been better choices for additional Stranger Things characters to get in the line up, but the ultimate pairing will be April O’Neil and Max. Then Shredder and Vecna. Time will tell what the future brings, but the Turtles cross overs don’t usually get too deep into the extended casts.

The packaging is in the same format as the other cross overs of this nature and this time more than others is part of the experience and even goes some way to justify keeping the figures mint in their packaging. The packaging is designed with the Stranger Things character upside down compared to the turtles figure. This is a neat touch for Stranger Things fans as ‘the upside down’ is the name of the alterative version of the world that Vecna and the other monsters come from, and literally is represented upside down compared to the real world.

The packaging is designed mostly so that it should be orientated to be displayed with the turtle figure the right way up, but you can only really tell this from the writing on the back of the box, and a couple of logos and age rating on the front.

All the turtles figures have reddish orange eye masks and brown knee and elbow pads, so it’ll mostly be down to the design of their faces and their weapons to tell them apart.

The design of Eleven is ok, but truthefully it’s not awesome. She’s dressed as her trying to fit in as a normal girl in the 80s look rather than her iconic short hair look. The artwork of Eleven shows her with her hand out ready to use her powers, but the figure doesn’t have this look of determination, nor is the hand even posed as seen in the art. I’m sure there are other Eleven figures where she has the hand out and bleeding from her nose, so this was probably to be different from others.

Accessories for Eleven include a walkie talkie, flashlight, backpack and Walkman, although the latter is now definitely more associated to Max and the Running Up a Hill song from Stranger Things Season 4.

Overall, this is a great set for fans of Stranger Things, and another winner for fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Also, with Leonardo as the leader of the Turtles it’s great to see that he was paired up with Eleven as usually these sets don’t put the most prominent match ups together to encourage you to have to buy multiple sets.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
