How to Secure Your Site On Your BlueHost Blog

If you’re setting up a new blog or other type of website and you notice that you get a ‘Not Secure’ notification from your browser when you visit your website it you may to address your SSL certificate in Blue Host.

Don’t worry this can be taken care really easily, but if you’re not sure even what a SSL certificate is or where to get started, this quick guide will help resolve a lot of your problems.

As a quick note, there could be other issues causing your site to display a Not Secure notice, so if this doesn’t work, the next best advice would be to use the free Chat Help or phone line (free to users in the US) and they’ll probably help you identify the issue in no time.

Step 1: Log In to Blue Host

Step 2: Click On ‘My Sites’ from the left hand side of the screen (or if they move the location in the future just find the My Sites tab)

Step 3: Click ‘Manage Site’ for whichever of your websites you wish to Secure.

Step 4: Next click the ‘Security’ tab from along the top row of tabs.

Step 5: You will see it say Security Certificate and there will be a switch next to it. Turn it on and you’re done!

Some users may have this automatically switched on, or if you don’t have one available then try this step.

Step 1: Log In to WordPress and you should be at the Dashboard.

Step 2: Go to Plugins and search for the new plugin ‘Simple SSL’

Step 3: Click Install Now and once it is installed click the Activate button.

Step 4: Now to Settings of the Plugin and make sure it says it is activated. Done!
