Have you ever seen a time travel movie where it doesn’t make sense that the things the time traveller does could happen? You know, because it would cause a paradox?
So, for example, Marty McFly in Back to the Future starts to disappear because his time travelling interfered with his parents becoming a couple and therefore, he wipes out his own existence.
Except that shouldn’t happen right?
Because if Marty stopped his parents falling in love, yes he wouldn’t be born, but then when he isn’t born, it would have been impossible for him to time travel and prevent his parents falling in love, so with no Marty, they should then fall in love and Marty would then pop back into existence right?
I believe that what is happening is that time can be changed and create a fixed loop.
Yes, Marty did once exist, but then by going back in time, it rips a tear into time itself.
Imagine this rip as a wound in time.
Marty as the time traveller is like the thorn in the wound as he is something out of his own time that doesn’t belong there just as a thorn is a foreign object that can tear into a person or animal that has a wound.
So, whilst he is still in the past where he shouldn’t be, Marty did things that look to alter time and because he is doing something that is continuing to damage time as it was, time in a sense is fighting back, just as your body would seek to attack any viruses, or break down any foreign that cut into your body.
Time was trying to heal itself by getting rid of Marty and he was being absorbed into the time line and started to fade away just as within time a scar will heal and fade on your body.
So, if Marty stops existing, shouldn’t his influence from what he altered also fade and then his parents fall in love again and then he exists again?
Maybe not.
Because Marty himself was the foreign entity that wasn’t meant to be in that timeline, if time was rejecting him, it may have made it so he no longer exists, but with him gone, time could just heal over the tear that he rips into it with his presence.
So maybe, if Marty had ceased to exist, it would have just been that he never existed again…
