Every WrestleMania Event Match Ranked From Worst To Best

22: Yokozuna vs Bret Hart – WrestleMania 10

The thing that is a shame about the second WrestleMania main event between Yokozuna and Bret Hart is that although it is a better match than the previous year’s effort, it had been completely overshadowed by Bret Hart having one of the all time great WrestleMania matches against his brother Owen on the same show.

With a controversial ending to the Royal Rumble which saw Bret Hart and Lex Luger both declared winners of the match, the situation was solved in an era that predated the triple threat match was a series of three matches being set for the grandest stage of them all.

After a coin toss it was decided that Lex Luger would get a shot at Yokozuna at WrestleMania first, whilst to keep things fair Bret would have a match against Owen just so both winners of the Rumble had wrestled a match each. This would then lead to the winner of the Yokozuna vs Lex Luger match taking on Bret Hart in the main event regardless if Bret won or not against Owen. As it was Bret lost to Owen, but would go on to beat Yokozuna and get a feel good ending which has become an iconic moment in WrestleMania history as the other faces in the company join Bret in the ring to celebrate at the end of the show.

21: John Cena vs The Rock 2 – WrestleMania 29

Twice in a lifetime!…yeah, after the previous main event at WrestleMania 28 had pitted the Rock against John Cena in a match dubbed as once in a life time, the WWE couldn’t resist the opportunity to dip into this well one more time the following year.

Whilst it was undoubtably lacking something for not being the first time the pair locked up, the WrestleMania 29 match added the WWE title to the picture to up the stakes. The Rock had returned to defeat CM Punk for the WWE title at the Royal Rumble and after defeating Cena the year prior, the most electrifying man in sports entertainment put over Cena in this return match. Arguably a better wrestling match, but just without the same level of hype when done the second time around.
