Mega CD
In a sense, the Mega CD shouldn’t rank above the Mega Drive Mini, as the smaller collection of games on the Mega Drive mini is superior to the many more games you can get on the Mega CD. However, in this instance we’ll give the nod to the Mega CD in part due to the historical relevance of the machine, which unlike the later 32X add on did add some value to the Mega Drive.
The Mega CD is famous for Sonic CD, which is one of the greatest Sonic games ever made, and certainly is the Mega CD’s killer app. It’s also famous for the many FMV games that released on the machine, most notably of which was Night Trap, although in this case I should say infamous.
The game which featured real actors kidnapping women as you watch on security cameras was highlighted in the United States Congress hearing on video games violence. This fact has helped elevate the game to new levels of fame.
Despite a lot of FMV based games releasing for the system there were still a decent batch of good games for players to look out for if you want to add them to your collection. These include Final Fight, Echo the Dolphin, WWF Rage in the Cage, Mad Dog McCree, and Shining Force CD.
