Mega Drive/Genesis
The Genesis does what Nintendon’t! We all remember the ultra competitive marketing. We remember the attitude of the generation and Sonic embodied that. But most of all, we remember the fun games.
The Genesis/Mega Drive was a really great games system with tons of great games. Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Knuckles, 3D Blast, Spinball and Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine are probably the best remembered of all the Mega Drive games, but there were so many great games on the machine. Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3, Altered Beast (I know some hate it, but I loved it), Toe Jam and Earl, Ecco the Dolphin, Lion King, Aladdin, Micky Mania, Mortal Kombat 1, 2, 3 and Ultimate MK3, Road Rash, NBA Jam and Hang Time, Super Street Fighter 2, Toy Story, Earthworm Jim 1 and 2…and the list goes on and on….Golden Axe trilogy, Fifa, Gunstar Heroes, Phantasy Star, James Pond…
When the machine came out it had a couple of years jump on the Super Nintendo and was the king of the 16-bit systems for many players across the world. For many it was Sega’s last hurrah and was definitely Sega at their most successful…but it’s not what we’re placing on top…
