Every Nintendo Amiibo Figure Ranked

Every Nintendo Amiibo Figure Ranked

The Amiibo figures were Nintendo’s answer to the Toys to Life craze that started in the era of the PS3, Wii and Xbox 360. The idea of scanning toys to add features to video games first began with Skylanders and Spyro the Dragon and was actually offered to Nintendo as an exclusive which they passed on at the time.

Having seen it explode with Skylanders and then later with Disney Infinity and Lego Dimensions, Nintendo clearly rushed their take on the Toys to Life idea with the introduction of the Amiibo which launched with Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS.

The Smash Bros games gave you the ability to train up a CPU team mate and this felt a less essential use of figures compared to other games, but Nintendo had two aces up it’s sleeve. Firstly, the Amiibo would be compatible with many games in differing ways which added value to certain figures, and secondly that Nintendo had a huge roster of beloved video game characters that often hadn’t been figures before.

Although there aren’t as many Amiibos released each year these days, there are still new figures and the Amiibo idea has out lived all other Toys to Life brands.

In this list we’ll rank all available Amiibo figures (and a couple of oddities), but won’t include all the Amiibo cards. So let’s get on with the list!

Kapp’n

No description available.

So there always has to be a figure ranked at the bottom, and in this case it’s Kapp’n from the Animal Crossing series. The odd looking character looks miserable and has little use outside the terrible Wii U Animal Crossing game.

Lottie

No description available.

Pretty much just read the comments on Kapp’n above. Lottie at least kinda smiles, and if you’re not an Animal Crossing fan, this is just an odd looking character to have on your shelf.

Rover

No description available.

At this stage it may seem like we’re not a fan of the Animal Crossing series. This isn’t true. It’s just a combination of lack of star power in some of the characters and that the figures aren’t even carried over as important to more recent Animal Crossing games.

Reese

No description available.

This pink sheep or llama or whatever it is has a certain charm, but is unlikely to be anyone’s favourite animal crossing character.

Cyrus

No description available.

A blue thing like the above pink thing, this one has frowny eyebrows and hands on hips which give him an edge of the Sonic like too cool for school attitude.

Mii Brawler

No description available.

The Mii’s were a fun feature of the Wii generation and we got a few Mii characters in Smash and therefore in Amiibo form too. The issue is that this is unlikely to resemble most people which was the cool thing about Miis.

Digby

No description available.

Digby is a nice looking character form the Animal Crossing world and this Amiibo represents him well. It’s just something for hardcore Animal Crossing fans only.

Mii Gunner

No description available.

The blank expression of the character doesn’t do this Amiibo any favours, but at least the blaster weapon looks cool.

Mii Swordfighter

No description available.

Look! It’s Prince Charming!….Oh no wait it’s a floppy haired Mii Amiibo. If 1997 Hugh Grant designed a Mii this would have been it.

Luigi

No description available.

It’s well known that the Amiibo’s were designed to match the poses in the Smash Bros for Wii U game and not the other way around. As a result we get up up and away Luigi with a support stand attached to his crotch.

Marth

No description available.

This early Amiibo is decent, but as more and more Fire Emblem characters have been made into Amiibo’s this one simply doesn’t match their increase in quality and detail.

Octoling Octopus

No description available.

An Octoling which looks very similar to the Inkling Amiibo’s we’ve had previously. It’s nice, but something we should have had years before we got it.

Mabel

No description available.

Mable almost looks like a Steamboat Willie dimension version of Sonic. It’s a cool chaarcter deisgn, but not the most memorable.

Bokoblin

No description available.

Of all the baddies in the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild to get an Amiibo this generic first baddie you’ll beat in the game character felt a weird character to be the first and at the time only baddie represent the monsters in Amiibo form.

Ike

No description available.

This showed improvement over Marth, but we can still see the face is lacking detail that would come in later Amiibos.

Princess Peach

No description available.

The early Peach figure cannot match the in game character in the same way as the newer Peach models.

Inkling Boy

No description available.

For some reason this figure always just felt bland comapred to the girl Inkling. Maybe it was the pose and the lack of attitude, but something was missing.
