Corfe Castle and Swanage Travel Vlog: Jet Lagged and Loving It

Whilst visiting Durdle Door, Rachel, Rocky and I explored the local area and had a day trip to see Corfe Castle and Swanage.

In this edition of the Jet Lagged and Loving It travel vlog, we take some time to see everything the castle has to offer as well as spending the afternoon on an unfortunately rainy beach and try video games at the arcade in Swanage.

If you want to visit someone with some rich history, it’s well worth going to Corfe Castle.

Created a thousand years ago for William the Conqueror, there is a lot to see and explore at the castle’s ruins. Much of it was damaged during the English Civil War and other conflicts, but I was impressed just how much was still intact and explorable.

The views from the castle across the surrounding village, which is also named Corfe Castle is a great one to see. And if you wait for it, you should be able to see a great view of a steam train that goes by in the area.

Once done at the Castle itself, the village below is charming with all of fashioned sweet shops, places you can take a dog in whilst you have tea and a model village.

Swanage

The seaside town of Swanage has a special place in my heart, as it was the first place I ever remember going on holiday when I was a child. I must have only been about 4 or 5 years old, and that being a long time ago now, truthfully I didn’t see much I recognised.

Still, it was nice to take a trip down memory lane knowing I’d been there before. Unfortunately as we arrived it started pouring with rain which wasn’t ideal for a beach trip with a dog.

Little Rocky didn’t mind the rain and still enjoyed running around and digging the sand on the beach.

We also took the chance to check out some of the shops and grab a bite to eat from a Wimpy Burger, which my family quite possibly visited back in the day.

There are some fun arcades along the beach front which were fun to check out. It’s a shame that many arcades these days have almost the whole focus on coin pusher and grab claw games but there were a few video games to enjoy which is more my cup of tea.

And there was a Zoltar fortune telling machine for fans of the movie Big. Thus far my wish that I put to the machine hasn’t been granted, but such is life.

In our next episode we’ll be heading to Chesil Beach and Weymouth for more beach and seaside antics!
